Results from Thursday 22nd May

McConnells 10-4 Grinders
Granges 4-10 Wayside
Parkview 3-11 Saints
Montys 4-10 RBL

After 19 matches in the 2013/14 Ballyclare & District Pool League, the final week of the season will see THREE teams fighting it out for the title of League Champions.
With Five Corners on a free week McConnells and Saints took full advantage with both moving above them in the League table. Neither team however had it easy with both going behind in last nights matches before pushing on and showing why they're the top two teams in the league with wins over Grinders and Parkview respectively.
McConnells head into their last match as favourites, one point clear of Saints and two ahead of Five Corners, with a win confirming them as League Champions for the 3rd time in 4 years. Standing in their way however are their Sport & Sound Cup Final opponents and last years League Winners Wayside Inn. Jeff Moore's men will be hoping that lightening doesn't strike twice as on the final day of the season last year, Wayside Inn drew with the Doagh men to confirm them as League Champions and stop McConnells chances of 3 League titles in a row.
Saints head to the Wayside Inn to take on the Blues, any idea that this will be a walkover will be far from their minds as Aaron Kirkwood's team travelled to the Loft earlier in the year and returned with all 3 points after a surprise 8-6 win. Saints will be looking at scores from Doagh to see if Wayside do them a favour by taking points from McConnells to help them win the League in their debut season.
Five Corners look to be the least likely to finish the season as the top team as they need positive results in both Wayside Inn teams  matches to give them a chance. They have on paper the easiest game out of the 3, with a home game against second from bottom Parkview. The win may not be enough though and they could still end the season as the third placed team.
Sure to be a cracking end of the season, with plenty of twists and turns left to be played out in three separate venues, it should be a fitting end to the closest run season Ballyclare & District Pool League have had to date. Good luck to all three teams and no matter who wins the League, no one will be in any doubt that each of the three deserve the title for the results they've put in throughout the season.
