McCONNELLS OF DOAGH 2013/2014 CHAMPIONS!! McConnells
have regained the title they lost to Thursday nights opponents Wayside
Inn in emphatic style after a 10-4 demolition of Kyle Kirkwood's side.
Jeff Moore's men have now made it 3 titles in only 4 years for the Doagh
side and in doing so have completed their League and Shane Curran Cup
double. Any
idea that this is the end for McConnells season are far from the truth
as they chase the final leg of the League treble with victory in
Thursday nights Sport & Sound Cup Final again facing Wayside Inn
this time in neutral venue Five Corners. Not
only did McConnells win the league on Thursday night but they also
booked their place in this years NIPA Champions of Champions, with one
place still up for grabs in Thursdays cup final. How
they went about winning their last match of the season should set them
up well for their next match against Wayside Inn as they raced to an 8-0
match winning score line before playing out the final frames to a 10-4
final score. Wayside however may take some sort of confidence from the
match knowing that 3 of the frames they lost were 2 'in-offs' and a
black down in the middle of the frame. Saints
and Five Corners both won their respective matches on the final day but
it turned out to be too little too late and all they can do is look
forward to next year and the new season. Congratulations to McConnells on their League win and good luck to both teams in the Sport & Sound Cup Final.Tuesday, 10 June 2014
