Shane Curran Memorial Cup Final

McConnells 8-2 Parkview 'A'

After being Runners Up in their previous 3 Cup Finals, McConnells of Doagh came out on top in this derby match to secure their first silverware of the season. The match started off with 2 tactical frames between J.Mackay and J.Wilson with Mackay being the victor on both occasion, one including a superb long yellow into a blind pocket to secure the frame. In Frame 3, D.Millar was unlucky with an in off that allowed J.Moore a saimple clearance for 3-0. But Millar brought it back to 3-1 in the next with a battling clearance which included 4 dead balls along the way. Frames 5 and 6 were scrappy with N.Gibson and P.Houston winning one a piece to leave the scoreline at 4-2 in McConnells favour. Mackay and Moore came out on top in the first Doubles encounter against S.Magowan and M.Leitch to open up a 3 frame advantage. U.Lorimer pushed S.Mitchell all the way in the next 2 but one missed ball in each frame was punished by Mitchell and McConnells were now one frame away from the victory they craved. Frame 10 pitted housemates W.Lewis and S.Magowan together and it was the current Player of the Year Lewis who took the honours to take the Trophy home to the McConnells Bar.

Ballyclare Pool League would like to thank Stephen McNeill of the Sportsman's Bar for hosting the Final.
